No. 23 Georgetown Faces No. 8 Penn State

WASHINGTON – The No. 23 Georgetown University women's soccer team is set to host No. 8 Penn State on Sunday, September 8. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. at Shaw Field on the campus of Georgetown University.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown is 3-1-1 on the season after dropping its first game of the year on Thursday to No. 20 Pepperdine 2-1.
  • Maja Lardner was named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week after scoring two goals and adding an assist against Lafayette last Sunday. This was Lardner's second multi-goal game of the season as she also put two in against Sacred Heart. The senior earned a nod to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll last week for her performances in a 2-0 week for GU.
  • Claire Manning was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Monday after playing a pivotal role in the Hoyas victory on Sunday. The senior was part of a defensive unit that held Lafayette to just three shots as GU cruised to its fourth shutout of the season. Manning also chipped in a career-high two assists in the Hoyas lone game of the week.
  • Jocelyn Lohmeyer was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week after scoring two goals last Sunday. The freshman scored her first collegiate goal just before the half and slotted home her second of the contest in the 77th minute.
  • Esme Brayshaw scored her second goal of the season against Pepperdine off an assist from Manning. Manning has now recorded three assists in the past two games.
  • Georgetown currently ranks fourth in the country in shots per game (26.20), seventh nationally in shots on goal per game (11.20) and fifth nationally in corner kicks per game (9.20).
ABOUT NO. 8 PENN STATE
  • Penn State enters Sunday's contest with a 5-1 record after defeating RV Princeton 1-0 on Thursday night. The Nittany Lions have defeated two ranked teams this season in No.8 Texas Tech and No. 19 St. Louis.
  • Kaitlyn MacBean leads the PSU offense with eight goals on the year. The redshirt senior is currently tied for second in the nation in goals trailing Karlie Lema of Cal who has nine.
  • Amanda Poorbaugh has logged 463 minutes in goal for Penn State and boasts a 0.78 GAA. The redshirt junior has tallied 13 saves on the season while conceding only four goals.
