WASHINGTON - The two-decade tenure of
Pat Conlan as the head coach of the Georgetown University softball team has come to a close, Francis X. Rienzo Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Lee Reed announced today.
Â
"I'd like to thank Pat for her effort and dedication to the program which she oversaw from its infancy," said Reed. "We are losing a talented and experienced coach, and we wish her well in her future endeavors."
Â
Conlan transformed GU's club team into a Division I program in 2006, serving as the program's first and only head coach. In 19 Division I seasons on the Hilltop, she amassed a record of 269-573. Conlan coached 17 All-BIG EAST honorees in her tenure on the Hilltop.
Â
"It has been an honor of a lifetime to spend the last two decades leading the Georgetown softball program," Conlan said. "I'm incredibly thankful to have worked alongside talented and dedicated assistant coaches, and I've appreciated the chance to work and mentor such a remarkable group of student-athletes. The Hilltop will always hold a special place in my heart."
Â
A national search for the next head coach will begin immediately.
