No. 13 Georgetown Hosts Providence in Midweek Matchup

WASHINGTON – The No. 13 Georgetown University women's soccer team will host Providence on Wednesday, October 15. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. at Shaw Field.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown (10-2-2, 6-0 BE) defeated DePaul, 2-0, on Saturday evening to secure its sixth conference win of the season. Maja Lardner and Henley Tippins each found the back of the net, while Natalie Means and Mary Cochran added assists in the victory.
  • Last week, Cara Martin had a shutout, earning her the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week. Martin has logged 1243:55 in goal for the Blue & Gray and boasts a 0.651 goals-against average. The reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year has five shutouts on the campaign and 30 saves to her credit.
  • Kaya Hanson also earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after anchoring a back line that limited DePaul to just one shot in the 2-0 win.
  • The Blue & Gray ranks first in the BIG EAST in corners per game (7.29). Martin is first in the conference in goals against average (0.651). Shay Montgomery is second in the conference in total assists (8) and is second in the conference in shot accuracy (0.571).
  • Dating back to 2021, Georgetown boasts a BIG EAST record of 33-2-9 and secured the regular season title in 2022, 2023 and 2024. GU won the BIG EAST Championship in three of the past four seasons (2021, 2022, 2023).
ABOUT PROVIDENCE
  • Providence (4-4-3, 1-2-2 BE) is coming off of a 3-3 tie against Creighton on Saturday.
  • Courtnee Pickles and Ella McBride both pace the Friars offense with two goals, one assist and five points on the season.
  • Ellie Thallman has logged all 990 minutes in goal for Providence and boasts a 1.455 goals-against average. Thallman has 32 saves and has three shutout wins on the season.
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • This will be the 26th all-time meeting between the two sides dating back to 1995. GU holds a 17-3-6 record against Providence.
  • The Blue & Gray is 6-1-3 in the last 10 matchups against Providence. The last meeting between the two sides was a 1-0 win on October 17, 2024.
