No. 13/16 Hoyas Host Xavier for Senior Day

WASHINGTON - The No. 13/16 Georgetown University men's soccer team will host the Xavier University Musketeers on Saturday at Shaw Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m., and the BIG EAST Conference matchup will be broadcast live on ESPN+ with Georgetown alums Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser calling the action in their 21st season in the booth.

  • Saturday is also Senior Day and the five members of the senior class will be honored in a short ceremony prior to kickoff.
About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (9-3-3, 5-0-1) is coming off of a 3-0 victory against Villanova last Saturday.
  • The Hoyas scored two goals in the first half, and added an insurance goal in the second for the squad's fifth BIG EAST win of the season.
  • For his effort against Villanova, sophomore Mitchell Baker was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday marking his second week in a row earning recognition.
  • Baker managed a goal and an assist in Georgetown's 3-0 victory over Villanova on Saturday evening at Shaw Field.
  • Senior Zach Zengue is leading the squad in scoring with 12 goals and seven assists for 31 points on the season. He is fourth in the nation in total goals, and is third in the country in points.
  • Baker is second in goals with seven on the season to go along with two assists for 16 points, while junior Matthew Van Horn leads the squad in assists with six. 
  • Senior Tenzing Manske has played 1,215 minutes in the goal and has a 0.81 goals-against average as well as seven total shutouts and 29 saves.
About the Musketeers
  • Xavier is currently 5-5-3 overall and 1-3-2 in BIG EAST Conference play.
  • XU is coming off a 3-1 loss against No. 23 Akron on Oct. 25 at Corcoran Field.
  • Cooper Forcellini scored his team-leading 10th goal of the season via penalty kick in the 38th minute.
  • Forcellini's 10 goals and one assist leads the squad in scoring with 21 points on the year.
  • Xavier's last victory was a 2-0 win at Wright State on October 7.
Series Info
  • The Hoyas are 8-5-1 all-time against the Musketeers and 5-2 at home.
  • The last meeting was a double overtime draw in the 2023 BIG EAST Championship game in Boyds, Maryland. The Hoyas lost the shootout, 5-4, as XU took the crown.
  • Earlier that season, the Blue & Gray had downed Xavier 3-1 in Cincinnati. GU managed three first-half goals including two from Zengue.
  • The last contest at Shaw Field was a 3-0 Hoya victory in 2022.
