No. 14/20 Hoyas Host Denver on ESPNU

WASHINGTON - The No. 14/20 Georgetown University men's soccer team will close out nonconference play on Tuesday as the squad hosts the University of Denver Pioneers under the lights at Shaw Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on ESPNU with Georgetown alums Dan Helfrich and Tom Greaser calling the action in their 21st season in the booth.

About the Hoyas
  • Georgetown (6-2-3) is coming off of a 0-0 draw at Seton Hall on Saturday evening in BIG EAST Conference action.
  • The Hoyas dominated possession by outshooting the Pirates 12-2, but could not find the back of the net.
  • It marked Georgetown's sixth shutout of the season and its fourth in the last five contests.
  • For his efforts in the Seton Hall game, junior Matthew Helfrich was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
  • It marked the first weekly award of his career.
  • Senior Zach Zengue is leading the squad in scoring with nine goals and four assists for 22 points on the season. He is fourth in the nation in total goals, and is sixth in the country in points.
  • Sophomore Mitchell Baker is second in goals with four on the season, while junior Matthew Van Horn leads the squad in assists with six which ranks him ninth in the nation in helpers.
  • Senior Tenzing Manske has played 945 minutes in the goal and has a 0.76 goals-against average as well as six shutouts and 23 saves.
About the Pioneers
  • The Pioneers are currently 5-6 on the season with all five victories coming at home.
  • Denver dropped its first road Summit League match of the season on Saturday afternoon with a 2-1 setback at UMass in a rematch of the 2024 NCAA Quarterfinal.
  • Kyle McGowan is leading the team with three goals and two assists for eight points on the year.
  • He is followed by Ian Welch who has tallied two goals and three assists for the season.
