WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team downed Xavier 4-0 on Saturday night at Corcoran Field. With the win, GU improves to 14-2-2 overall and 10-0 in BIG EAST play, while Xavier falls to 13-3-2 and 8-1-1 in league action.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
"I cannot express how proud I am of the girls and their performance tonight. On both sides of the ball, we were exceptional. Xavier is a fantastic attacking team, and to keep them off the board shows how well our backline, goalkeeper, and team defending was. On the attacking side, what can I say about Maja Lardner, big players show up in big games, and she scored two exceptional goals, led the team from the front, and was asking questions of their defense all night. However, it was great to see two of our unsung heroes, Shay Montgomery and Izzy Boodell chip in with goals when we needed them the most. This is the first time we have run the gauntlet in the conference and the players, staff and support we get from the University and athletic department make it all happen. We now turn around and get ready to play a tricky Creighton team on Thursday in the Conference Tournament in Maryland."
