Hoyas Face Sacred Heart in First Round of NCAA Championships

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team will host the Sacred Heart Pioneers in the first round of the NCAA Championships on Friday, November 14. Kickoff is slated for 6:30 P.M. at Shaw Field on the campus of Georgetown University.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown (15-3-2, 10-0 BE) is coming off a 2-0 defeat against Xavier in the BIG EAST Championship Final.
  • Kaya Hanson, Maja Lardner, and Henley Tippins were named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament Team..
  • Maja Lardner was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year after tallying 31 points on 14 goals and three assists.
  • Cara Martin was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year after posting a 0.560 GAA this season. The senior went 10-0 in conference action and contributed to all eight of GU's conference shutouts.
  • Georgetown's coaching staff was named the 2025 BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the Blue & Gray to a 15-3-2 record this season. The last time Head Coach Nolan and his staff were recognized was in 2024 when the Hoyas went 12-3-4 while earning a spot in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

ABOUT Sacred Heart
  • Sacred Heart (11-8-2, 7-5 MAAC) enters Friday's match after winning the MAAC Conference Championship over Canisius in a penalty shootout.
  • Morgan Bovardi paces the Pioneers offense with 27 points to her credit. The senior has amassed 12 goals and three assists in 21 games this season.
  • Kyran Thievon has started all of the Pioneers' 21 games in goal boasting a 11-8-2 record. Thievon owns a 0.855 GAA and has 87 saves to her credit.
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Georgetown and Sacred Heart have met once before during the 2024 season.
  • In the lone matchup between the two sides, GU secured a 2-0 victory.
WHAT LIES AHEAD
