No. 2-Seeded Georgetown Hosts No. 3-Seeded Florida State in NCAA Championships Third Round

WASHINGTON – The second-seeded Georgetown University women's soccer team will host the third-seeded Florida State Seminoles on Sunday, November 23 in the Sweet 16. The match is scheduled for a 12 p.m. EST kickoff at Shaw Field.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown (16-3-3, 10-0 BE) advanced to the Sweet Sixteen after playing West Virginia to a 1-1 draw and defeating the Mountaineers 4-3 in penalty kicks in Thursday's second-round match at Shaw Field. The Hoyas have now reached the third round for the fourth time in program history and the first time since the 2021 spring season.
  • Georgetown's lone goal came in the 22nd minute when Maja Lardner served a cross to Mary Cochran, who found Lezzie Heller for the finish to level the match at 1-1. The Hoyas generated several chances throughout the second half but were unable to break the deadlock, relying on a crucial penalty-kick save from Cara Martin to help secure the 4-3 shootout victory.
  • The quartet of Means, Montgomery, Henley Tippins and Maja Lardner has combined for 106 of Georgetown's 139 points this season. The group has tallied more than three fourths of the squads' goals with 40 and has recorded 26 assists.
  • Maja Lardner was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year after tallying 29 points on 13 goals and three assists.
  • Cara Martin was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year after posting a 0.511 GAA this season. The senior went 10-0 in conference action and contributed to all eight of GU's conference shutouts.
  • Georgetown's coaching staff was named the 2025 BIG EAST Coaching Staff of the Year after leading the Blue & Gray to a 14-2-2 record this season. The last time Head Coach Nolan and his staff were recognized was in 2024 when the Hoyas went 12-3-4 while earning a spot in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.
  • Lardner, Martin and Means all earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team.
  • GU ranks in the top-25 nationally in 11 different statistical categories. GU is in the top-10 nationally in corner kicks per game (fifth), goals against average (fifth), shots per game (ninth), shots on goal per game (ninth), won-lost-tied percentage (eighth), and goal differential (seventh).

  • Florida State (12-2-3, 6-2-2 ACC) defeated Lipscomb 1-0 in the second round of the NCAA Championships.
  • Jordynn Dudley paces the Seminoles offense with nine goals, 12 assists and 30 points this season.
  • Kate Ockene has logged 710 minutes in goal this season and boasts a 0.760 GAA. Ockene has tallied three shutouts while recording 12 saves.

  • Sunday's matchup will be the first ever meeting in program history between the two sides.
