Women’s Basketball Opens the Season at Home Against Stonehill College

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will open the 2025-26 campaign on Thursday evening at McDonough Arena as the Hoyas host the Stonehill College Skyhawks in a 7 p.m. matchup. For the fourth season in a row, ENGIE will be the presenting sponsor of the Hoya women's basketball squad this year.

  • New this season, the BIG EAST Conference has partnered with ESPN to broadcast more than 75 women's basketball games on ESPN+.
  • All home Georgetown women's basketball contests that are not broadcast on linear television will be available on ESPN+.

About the Hoyas
  • Senior guard Victoria Rivera earned BIG EAST Conference Honorable Mention Preseason honors at the league's annual women's basketball media day held at Madison Square Garden in New York.
  • The Hoyas were also picked to finish seventh in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, receiving 48 points.
  • In 2024-25, Georgetown went 12-19 as well as 4-14 in conference play. Georgetown boasted four postseason awards as Kelsey Ransom earned the BIG EAST Sportsmanship Award as well as First Team All-BIG EAST honors, while Ariel Jenkins was an Honorable Mention All-BIG EAST selection and Khadee Hession earned a spot on the All-Freshman team.
  • The Hoyas lost three starters to graduation and return a talented group battling for minutes including Rivera, Hession, as well as Brianna Scott and Chetanna Nweke who are both coming back from injury.
  • Additionally, senior Modesti McConnell and sophomores Alexia Araujo Dagba and Amanda Ajobiewe will contribute to the effort.
  • The Blue & Gray brought in eight newcomers with seven transfers and one true freshman in Braelynn Barnett.
  • The transfers include Destiny Agubata (West Virginia), Brianna Byars (Cincinnati), Cristen Carter (Butler), Indya Davis (Georgia), Summer Davis (Georgia), Laila Jewett (Central Florida) and Khia Miller (East Carolina).
  • The Hoyas will host six nonconference games at McDonough Arena and play three contests on the road in preparation for BIG EAST play.
  • Georgetown will once again host the UConn Huskies at CareFirst Arena on January 22.
About the Skyhawks
  • Stonehill was voted to finish second in the NEC Preseason Poll, and junior guard Brooke Paquette unanimously earned Preseason All-NEC honors.
  • Stonehill is coming off a 17-16 overall season last year, as the Skyhawks went 11-5 in the NEC, reaching the conference championship game and earning a spot in the WNIT for the first-time in program history.
  • Head Coach Trisha Brown is entering her 25th season at the helm. She led Stonehill to 13 Division II NCAA tournament appearances and now guides the Skyhawks through its exciting transition to NCAA Division I.
