Hoyas Open BIG EAST Play Against Villanova

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's basketball team will finish out its five-game homestand and open BIG EAST Conference play as the squad hosts the Villanova University Wildcats on Thursday evening at McDonough Arena. The opening tip is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on Peacock with Adam Giardino and Edona Thaqi on the call.

  • Georgetown (5-2) downed Towson last Wednesday, 94-67, in a nonconference contest at McDonough Arena.
  • Senior Victoria Rivera led the way with her first 20-point performance of the season, going an impressive 6-7 from beyond the arc to tie her career high in triples.
  • Graduate student Laila Jewett was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her notable performance after hitting five three-pointers to finish with 17 points, seven assists and four rebounds in the contest.
  • Sophomore Summer Davis rounded out those in double figures with 11 points, including a pair of triples as well as an impressive five steals.
  • The Blue & Gray shot 53.7% (36-67) from the field, and an incredible 58.3% (14-24) from beyond the arc.

About the Wildcats
  • Villanova is 6-2 on the season, coming off of last week's victories over La Salle (66-54) and then-No. 21 West Virginia (81-59).
