Four Hoyas Earn United Soccer Coaches All-Region Awards

WASHINGTON - Four members of the Georgetown University men's soccer team earned United Soccer Coaches All-East Region honors on Tuesday.  Zach Zengue and Mitchell Baker both earned spots on the first team, while Tenzing Manske and Eric Howard were second team honorees. Of the 22 honorees on the first two teams of the East Region, an impressive 18 came from the BIG EAST Conference with Georgetown boasting four.
 
Zach Zengue
First Team All-East Region
  • Zengue was the BIG EAST Midfielder of the Year and a unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST honoree.
  • Zengue started all 22 games he appeared in and had a team-leading 14 goals and 14 assists for 42 points on the season.
  • This includes three game winners and four penalty kicks.
  • The North Oaks, Minnesota native led the BIG EAST in points, goals and assists while ranking third, eighth and third in the three categories in the nation, respectively.
  • He was a Preseason All-BIG EAST selection and earned three BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week awards this past season while also being named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on two occasions.
  • This is Zengue's second regional honor after being named to the first team a season ago.
  • He has also been a part of the MAC Hermann Trophy pool earning a place on both the Watch List and Midseason List.
  • Following his sophomore year, he was selected by the Columbus Crew in the second round with the 29th pick and 58th overall in the MLS Draft.
Mitchell Baker
First Team All-East Region
  • Baker was a unanimous First Team All-BIG EAST honoree.
  • Baker started all 21 games he appeared in and ranked second on the squad in scoring with 14 goals and three assists for 31 points on the year.
  • His five game winners led the BIG EAST Conference and ranked sixth in the nation.
  • Baker was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week once this past season as well as earning three nods to the weekly honor roll.
  • He was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team following Georgetown's victory.
  • This is his first-career regional award on the Hilltop.
  • The Melbourne, Australia native was a Preseason All-BIG EAST selection.
Tenzing Manske
Second Team All-East Region
  • Manske was a Third Team All-BIG EAST selection.
  • Manske started all 21 games he played in for the Blue & Gray this past season with a record of 13-4-4 overall.
  • He combined for 10 shutouts, including seven solo clean sheets, and had 54 saves on the year.
  • The Santa Fe, New Mexico native had an impressive 0.88 goals-against average and a .750 save percentage this season.
  • His GAA ranked him second in the BIG EAST Conference and among the top 25 in the nation.
  • This is Manske's second regional honor after being named to the second team a season ago.
Eric Howard
Second Team All-East Region
  • Howard was a First Team All-BIG EAST honoree.
  • Howard started all 20 games he appeared in and had three assists on the season.
  • On defense, the Redmond, Washington native was part of a backline that posted 11 shutouts for the year.
  • He was named to the BIG EAST All-Tournament team following Georgetown's victory.
  • Last year, Howard was drafted by the New England Revolution with the fifth pick in the second round and 35th overall in the MLS Draft.
  • This is Howard's first regional honor.
