Tennis Prepares for Second Consecutive Three-Match Weekend

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's and women's tennis teams return to action for its second consecutive three-match weekend. The women's squad will stay in the nation's capital this weekend to face BIG EAST foe Seton Hall on Friday while the men's squad will head to Annapolis, Maryland, on Saturday and Sunday for matches against Richmond and Navy, respectively.

FOLLOW THE HOYAS

·          Men's tennis will head to Annapolis, Maryland on Saturday, February 22 at 5 p.m. to take on the Richmond Spiders before facing Navy at 1:30 p.m. The following day. Both matches will be played at the Tose Family Tennis Center on the campus of Navy. Streaming and live stats will be available at GUHoyas.com.

·          Women's tennis will host the Seton Hall Pirates on Friday, February 21 at 11:45 a.m. The match will be played at Yates Field House on the campus of Georgetown University.

ABOUT GEORGETOWN MEN'S TENNIS | 3-5, 1-1 in BIG EAST

·          Georgetown is coming off of a loss in University Park, Pennsylvania to the Penn State Nittany Lions this past weekend.

·          The duo of Jake Fellows and Arthur O'Sullivan picked up a win in No. 1 doubles, defeating the duo of Charl Morgan and David Lindsay (PSU) (6-3) to improve the duo's overall record in doubles in the spring to 4-4.

·   On February 20, Jake Fellows was ranked the No. 111 singles player in the ITA College Tennis Rankings.

ABOUT GEORGETOWN WOMEN'S TENNIS | 4-3, 2-2 in BIG EAST 

·          The Hoyas are coming off of a 1-1 weekend that featured a win over the Providence Friars (7-0) and a loss to the UConn Huskies (3-4).

·          The Blue & Gray went 8-0 in matches against Providence, with the duos of Emily Novikov and Natasha Kavarana and Ashley Kennedy and Katie Garafolo-Ro picking up doubles wins, while Novikov, Kavarana, Kennedy, Paige Gilbert, Ellen Puzak and Carolyn Schaefer all picked up singles wins for GU.

·          Against UConn, the duo of Kennedy and Garafolo-Ro picked up another doubles win against Chloe Lomans/Isabella Asenov (UCONN) (6-3) to round out a 2-0 week in doubles for the duo. Novikov, Kavarana and Schaefer all picked up singles wins to cap off their weekend.

.         Emily Novikov was named the BIG EAST Women's Singles Player of the Week on Monday, as announced by the league office. This is the first BIG EAST honor for Novikov this season after winning BIG EAST Freshman of the Year last season.

.       Friday's matchup against Seton Hall will have free pizza for everyone who shows up to the match.
