WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's and women's swimming & diving teams will head to Geneva, Ohio for the BIG EAST Championships, presented by JEEP, on February 24-27 at SPIRE Academy. The defending BIG EAST Men's Champions will look to win their fourth straight while the women are looking to capture the program's first win.Â
- MEET INFORMATION
- The four-day meet will begin on Monday with diving preliminaries starting at 1 p.m. and the relay finals beginning at 5:45 p.m.
- On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, swimming prelims will begin at 10 a.m. followed by diving prelims at 1 p.m.
- Event finals will start at 5:45 p.m. each day.Â
- All Championship action will air live on the BIG EAST Digital Network on FloSports Presented by Invesco QQQ, with wall-to-wall coverage that includes all event preliminaries, finals and awards.
ABOUT THE HOYAS
- This season the men's team went 5-3 in dual meets while the women went 4-4.
- In the fall, Angelica Reali, Owen Watkins and Bailey De Luise were each named BIG EAST Athletes of the Week.Â
- Watkins holds the fastest time in the BIG EAST in the 50 free with a program-breaking time of 19.97. The freshman is also the fastest in the conference in the 100 free with a program-best time of 44.14.Â
- With a time of 54.26, Bailey De Luise holds the fastest conference time in the 100 breaststroke.Â
- Stephen Kim (1:59.16), Ben Tunila (2:00.73), Nick Pezzella (2:01.34) and De Luise (2:01.88) hold the top four fastest times in the conference in the 200 breaststroke.
- In the 20 free relay, GU has the fastest time in the BIG EAST at 1:20.46.
- This season, Angelica Reali holds the top times in the BIG EAST in the 200 fly (1:58.33) and 200 medley (2:00.80).
