Box Score 2 WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University softball team went 2-0 on the second day of the CSU Kickoff in Charleston, South Carolina. In the opening game, the Hoyas defeated the Bellarmine Knights 8-4 behind a five-run sixth inning. In the second game of the day, the Hoyas defeated the Charleston Southern Buccaneers 15-7 to sweep the doubleheader. With a 2-0 day, the Hoyas are 3-1 on the season.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Kayla Dunn picked up her second win in as many games for GU this season, tossing 4.2 innings in relief, allowing two earned runs and striking out three.
- Avery Wissmar closed out the victory for Georgetown, going two scoreless and helping GU secure the win.
- A quartet of Hoyas had multiple hits, with Claire Turner, Dani Koo, Emily Strittmatter and Hollie Pardini all having two each.
- Dayanara Campos was 1-3 with a three-run homerun, she also walked earlier in the game.
- Koo hit her first career home run, which was a two-run blast.
- Gabby Park and Turner had the other two RBIs for the Blue & Gray.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Bellarmine got on the board in the top half of the first with a leadoff double by Harlie Bickett followed by a fielding error that scored Bickett. The Knights added one more run with Mackayla Denney hitting a sac fly to give the Knights a 2-0 lead.
- The Hoyas countered in the bottom half, with Koo hitting her first career collegiate home run, tying the game at 2-2 after one.
- After a 1-2-3 top of the second from Dunn, GU took the lead on a sacrifice fly from Turner to go ahead 3-2.
- The score would remain the same until the fourth inning, when Bickett delivered a two-run double to put the Knights ahead 4-3 after four innings.
- The score remained the same until the sixth inning, where Georgetown exploded for five runs on five hits. Kozo started the rally with a single to right field. After two batters were retired, Park ripped a single up the middle to tie the game at 4-4.
- Turner followed Park with a base hit of her own, before GU executed a double steal to give the Hoyas a 5-4 lead.
- Two were on for Campos, who busted the game open with a three-run blast for her first homerun of the season, opening up an 8-4 lead for GU.
- Wissmar shut the door with a 1-2-3 seventh inning to secure the win.

HOYA HIGHLIGHTS
- Turner led the offensive charge, going 2-5 with a grand slam and 5 RBIs.
- Sammy Fenton tallied three hits, two RBIs and one run scored
- Strittmatter and Koo had two hits apiece, with Koo hitting her second homerun in as many games on the day.
- Campos, Kozo, Pardini, Park and Brooke Rehban all had one hit in the contest.
- Sage Hager earned the save for the Blue & Gray, going three innings allowing an earned run and not walking a batter.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Charleston Southern opened up the scoring in this contest with two in the first, with Carsten Sandvig delivering an RBI single and Emma Villaescusa hitting an RBI double to give Charleston Southern 2-0.
- CSU would add two more in the second, with Weslin Jones delivering a two-run single to extend its lead to 4-0.
- The Hoyas would answer in the third, with two scoring on an error to cut the lead to 4-2. A Rehban double and Park walk loaded the bases for the Hoyas, when Turner stepped up to the plate and delivered a grand slam for the Hoyas to go ahead 6-4.
- Charleston Southern would answer in the bottom half of the inning, with Jones delivering two more RBIs on a double to tie at 6-6.
- Georgetown would retake the lead in the fourth, with Fenton delivering an RBI single to score Strittmatter to go up 7-6. That lead would not last, as Sandvig homered to level the game back at seven apiece.
- From there on out, it was all GU. Turner delivered another RBI knock, where she scored on an error. The Blue & Gray would add two more with a two run double from Kozo and an RBI single from Pardini to go ahead 12-7.
- GU would add three more insurance runs, with Koo hitting her second home run of the season, followed by RBI walks from Pardini and Fenton to give Georgetown a 15-7 lead.
- That score would stand, capping off a 2-0 day for the Blue & Gray.
