Softball Travels to St. John’s for Three-Game Set

WASHINGTON — The Georgetown University softball team will stay in the tri-state area from March 14-16 for a three-game set against the St. John's Red Storm. The Hoyas enter the series with an 8-8 record overall and an 0-3 mark in BIG EAST play, while St. John's sits at 17-8 and opens league play with this series.

  • Georgetown enters the weekend with an 8-8 overall record after going 0-3 against Seton Hall in Newark, New Jersey, from March 7-9.
  • Dayanara Campos had a huge opening weekend in conference play, with a slash line of .500/.556/1.375. The junior went 4-for-8 with two homers, four RBIs and three runs scored.
  • On Sunday, Campos had three hits, two homers and four RBIs in the loss to Seton Hall. With the two-homer day, Campos tied Mae Forshey for fifth all-time in home runs.
  • Abby Kozo leads the team in batting average at .360, with Emily Strittmatter and Gabby Park following closely at .341.
  • Campos and Strittmatter lead the team in home runs with four apiece. Georgetown ranks third in the conference in team home runs with 16.
  • Kayla Dunn leads the squad with four wins on the season.
  • Georgetown is led by Head Coach Karla Ross, who is in her first season with the Hoyas. She is assisted by Kamryn Dolby.

About the Red Storm

  • St. John's enters conference play with a 17-8 record on the season after defeating the Iona Gaels 6-1 in a midweek contest.
  • The Red Storm offense was powered by Elanna Lysiak, who went 4-for-4 with two home runs, four RBIs and two runs scored.
  • Loreley Francia threw a gem, going 5.0 scoreless innings, walking three batters and allowing just one hit while striking out nine.
  • London Jarrard currently leads the Red Storm with a .439 batting average, while Jess Bianco follows with a .414 clip on the season.
