Georgetown to Play in the Inaugural College Basketball Crown in Las Vegas

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team will participate in the inaugural College Basketball Crown, a single-elimination 16-team tournament featuring competitive postseason matchups from the nation's biggest basketball conferences. The Hoyas are set to face Washington State on Monday, March 31 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Tipoff scheduled for 11 p.m. ET on FS1.
 
Founded by AEG and FOX Sports, the College Basketball Crown will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas from Monday, March 31 to Sunday, April 6, with all the action airing on FOX and FS1. Tickets can be purchased exclusively via Vivid Seats, the Official Ticketing Provider of the College Basketball Crown.-
 
The following teams representing seven conferences will compete in the inaugural College Basketball Crown:

ABOUT THE COLLEGE BASKETBALL CROWN
  • Launched by FOX Sports and AEG, the College Basketball Crown is a premier postseason college basketball tournament debuting in March 2025 in Las Vegas at MGM Grand Garden Arena and T-Mobile Arena. Featuring 16 elite teams from the Big Ten, Big 12, BIG EAST and additional at-large participants, the tournament offers a new and highly competitive postseason opportunity for student-athletes and fans alike. The inaugural College Basketball Crown will take place from March 31 to April 6, 2025, with all games airing on FOX and FS1. Key partners of the inaugural College Basketball Crown include:

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown enters the tournament with a 17-15 overall record with an 8-12 mark in BIG EAST play. Georgetown earned the #7 seed in the BIG EAST Tournament presented by Jeep, facing #10 DePaul. The shorthanded Hoyas couldn't complete a late comeback bid, falling 71-67 to the Blue Demons.
  • Prior to the BIG EAST Tournament, Micah Peavy was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team following a season that saw him average 16.9 ppg, good enough for sixth in the conference, while recording a league-leading 2.3 spg. He chipped in 5.7 rpg and 3.6 apg while he appeared in and started all 31 games of the season, a feat achieved by no other Hoya.
  • Additionally, Thomas Sorber earned a nod to the All-BIG EAST Third Team following a season where he averaged 14.5 ppg, 8.5 rpg and 2.0 bpg in a season shortened because of injury. Sorber was also one of two unanimous selections to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team. He and fellow frosh Liam McNeeley (UConn) were the only freshman to earn third team honors and unanimous selections to the all-freshman squad.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES WITH WASHINGTON STATE
  • This is the first ever meeting between Georgetown and Washington State.
  • Washington State enters the tournament with a 19-14 record and an 8-10 mark in West Coast Conference action. The Cougars earned the #6 seed in the WCC Tournament, defeating #7 LMU 94-77 in the first round before falling 86-75 to fourth-seeded San Francisco in the quarterfinals.
  • This will be the first meeting between Head Coach Ed Cooley and Washington State's David Riley.
