Hoyas Face Mount St. Mary’s in Midweek Showdown

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will host Mount St. Mary's on Tuesday afternoon at Capital One Park in Tysons, Virginia. First pitch on Tuesday, March 25 is scheduled for 4 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown enters Tuesday's contest with an 8-16 record after dropping its weekend series against Radford 2-1. GU was victorious in game one (6-2) but was unable to secure a win in the final two games of the series (11-2, 6-4). 
  • Kavi Caster was sensational last week for the Hoyas, slashing .727/.667/.909 in four games for GU. Caster tallied eight hits, a triple, two RBIs and two walks while chipping in two sac flies and five stolen bags on the week. 
  • Andrew Williams dominated once again on Sunday tossing 6.2 innings allowing eight hits and zero earned runs while punching out four. Williams has been named the BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week twice this season with his last nod coming after tossing a complete seven-inning game against Longwood on March 9.
  • Blake Schaaf leads the squad at the plate, slashing .355/.457/.539 on the season. The sophomore has tallied 27 hits, six doubles, one triple, two home runs and 13 RBIs in 23 games this season. Schaaf leads the squad on the basepath with 20 stolen bases this season and boasts a 95.2% steal success rate. 
  • Johan Franco is set to make his fifth start of the season on the mound for Georgetown on Tuesday. Franco boasts a 1-0 record and has tossed 13.1 innings this season while allowing only nine earned runs. The Sophomore has held his opponents to a .212 batting average while recording 14 strikeouts on the season. 
  • Georgetown ranks fourth nationally in stolen bases with 77 on the season. GU trails VMI (134), Wofford (94) and Mount St. Mary's (81). 
 
ABOUT MOUNT ST. MARY'S
  • Mount St. Mary's enters Tuesday's contest with a 10-12 record after winning its weekend series against Niagara. 
  • Ty Fredo leads the Mount at the dish slashing .404/.491/.551. Fredo has 36 hits, five doubles, one triple, two home runs and 19 RBIs. 
  • On the mound, Serigne Sarre leads the Mount with a 2-3 record and a 2.79 ERA. Sarre has tossed 29.0 innings this season and has allowed nine earned runs while punching out 42. 
 
UP NEXT
Georgetown will be back in action this weekend for a three-game series with UMBC. Game one is slated for Friday, March 28 in Baltimore with first pitch coming at 3 p.m. Game two and three of the series will be played at Capital One Park in Tysons, Virginia.
