Hoyas Host Butler for Three-Game Set

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University baseball team will host the Butler University Bulldogs for a three-game series this week at Capital One Park in Tysons, Virginia. Game one is slated for Thursday, April 17 with first pitch coming at 4 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown (12-24, 1-5 BE) is coming off a 12-1 defeat against No. 16 Oregon on Monday. Owen Carapellotti hit his 47th career home run in the contest leaving him one shy of the program record heading into the weekend. 
  • Carapellotti tallied his 200th collegiate hit on Sunday with a solo home run. Carapellotti is the 13th Hoya in program history to earn a spot in the 200-hit club. 
  • Blake Schaaf paces the Hoya offense, slashing .316/.429/.456 on the season. The sophomore is tied for the team lead in doubles (8), is second on the squad in triples (1) and leads the team on the base path with 22 stolen bags on the campaign, a mark that ranks 30th nationally. 
  • Andrew Williams and JT Raab lead the Hoyas on the mound as Williams boasts a 2-3 record while Raab is 3-1 on the season. In 43.2 innings of action, Williams has posted a 3.50 ERA, a mark that is second in the BIG EAST while Raab has posted a 3.59 ERA in 47.2 innings of action. Raab leads the squad in strikeouts with 43 while Williams follows closely behind with 35 to his credit. 
  • Georgetown ranks 10th nationally in stolen bases with 94 on the season. GU trails VMI (187), Southern University (131), Wofford (120), Texas Southern (105), Longwood (104), Northeastern (104), Mount St. Mary's (103), Alcorn (100) and George Mason (99). 
  • The Blue & Gray ranks top three in the BIG EAST in base on balls (172), ERA (6.19), sacrifice bunts (28), sacrifice flies (21), shutouts (1), stolen bases (94) and stolen bases per game (2.61). 
 
ABOUT BUTLER
  • Butler enters the weekend series with a 12-14 record and a 1-5 mark in conference action. The Bulldogs are coming off a 3-2 setback against Ball State on Tuesday afternoon. 
  • Jack Moroknek leads Butler at the dish slashing, .407/.464/.779 on the season. Moroknek leads the team in runs (44), hits (59), doubles (13), home runs (13) and RBIs (44). 
  • On the mound, Marcus Goodpaster leads the Bulldogs with a 3-2 record and a 5.96 ERA in eight starts this season. Goodpaster has tossed a team-high 45.1 innings and has allowed 30 earned runs while punching out 27.
