ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • In the first round of the College Basketball Crown, Georgetown (18-15, 8-12 BE) pulled off an 85-82 victory over Washington State at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Monday evening. Malik Mack poured in a career-high 37 points to lead a trio of Hoyas in double figures, who all had career nights. Mack's 37 was fueled by a 13-for-24 performance from the field to include eight 3-pointers. Jordan Burks and Caleb Williams also had career nights with 16 and 13 points, respectively. Burks led the Hoyas on the glass with a career-best 13 rebounds for the second double-double of his career.
  • Georgetown's Micah Peavy was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team before the postseason and has since earned a nod to the NABC All-Mid Atlantic District First Team. Additionally, Thomas Sorber earned a nod to the All-BIG EAST Third Team, was one of two unanimous selections to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team and also earned a nod to the NABC All-Mid Atlantic District Team alongside Peavy.
  • Sorber's season was cut short following an injury suffered to his left foot on Saturday, February 15. He had surgery on Wednesday, February 26 and a full recovery is expected. Sorber will not play for the remainder of the 2024-25 season. He announced that he will enter his name in the 2025 NBA Draft while maintaining his college eligibility.
  • Peavy leads a quartet of Hoyas averaging double figures posting 17.2 ppg, a mark that is fifth in the BIG EAST. Sorber chips in 14.5 ppg, followed by Epps (12.8 ppg) and Malik Mack (12.5 ppg).
  • Sorber leads the squad on the glass pulling down 8.5 rpg followed by Peavy (5.8 rpg).
  • Malik Mack paces the offense, dishing out 4.3 apg.
  • Peavy ranks 16th in the country and leads the BIG EAST in steals per game, picking 2.31 pockets per game.
  • Sorber's eight double-doubles are tied for fourth in the league and are third in the nation among freshmen, behind Derik Queen (Maryland) with 15.

ABOUT THE CORNHUSKERS
  • Nebraska (18-14) comes off an 86-78 win over Arizona State in the College Basketball Crown opener on Monday night. The Cornhuskers shot 65 percent in the second half en route to overcoming a 10-point deficit in the final 15 minutes. Nebraska's depth played a major role in the comeback, as Connor Essegian had all 17 of his points in the second half while Cale Jacobsen set career bests in both assists (5) and steals (3) helping the Huskers outscore ASU, 47-29, over the final 15 minutes.
  • Nebraska's stars also showed up in the win, as Brice Williams led all scorers with 30 points on 8-of-16 shooting while Juwan Gary added 18 points, three assists and two steals.
  • Williams, who is now second in the Big Ten in scoring at 20.3 points per game, posted his fourth 30-point effort of the season, which is the most by a Husker since 2018-19. It also marked just the third time a Husker scored 30-or-more points in a postseason game, joining Andre Smith (30 vs. Michigan in 1980 NIT) and Tom Baack (33 vs. Marshall in 1967 NIT).
  • Fred Hoiberg is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Huskers.

ABOUT THE SERIES WITH NEBRASKA
  • This is the first ever meeting between Georgetown and Nebraska.
  • While Head Coach Ed Cooley has never faced Nebraska, this will be the second meeting between Cooley and Nebraska's Fred Hoiberg. The two met previously when Cooley was in his first season at Providence and the Friars faced Hoiberg's Iowa State squad on November 25, 2011. Hoiberg and the Cyclones took the 65-54 victory in the South Padre Island Invitational.
