Box Score 2 WASHINGTON — The Georgetown University softball team dropped both games in today's doubleheader at UConn, falling 2-1 in the opener and 12-4 in five innings in the nightcap. With the losses, the Hoyas slip to 10-29 overall and 1-19 in BIG EAST play, while the Huskies improve to 30-14 and 16-4 in conference.

How it Happened
- After a scoreless first inning from both teams, the Hoyas broke the scoreless tie in the top of the second. To lead off the inning, Pardini took a 2-0 pitch over the left field wall and into the bullpen to give the Hoyas an early 1-0 lead.
- In the bottom half of the inning, the Huskies would get the run back off of two singles and an error to even the score at 1-1.
- After a scoreless top of the third from Georgetown, UConn would threaten, putting two runners on with one out, but back-to-back strikeouts from Wissmar kept the Huskies at bay leaving the inning scoreless, 1-1 at the end of three frames.
- Both pitchers would continue to throw up zero's in the fourth and the fifth inning, with just one base runner reaching from both teams, as the 1-1 tie remained heading into the sixth inning.
- In the bottom of the sixth, the Huskies broke the scoreless tie with a solo shot to left field, giving UConn a 2-1 lead heading into the seventh.
- Georgetown would be retired 1-2-3 in the seventh as they came up short 2-1.

- Strittmatter was 1-for-3 with a home run, a run scored and three RBI.
- Pardini was 1-for-2 with a home run, an RBI and a run scored.

How it Happened
- Similar to game one, the Hoyas would open the scoring in this contest with one swing. With one out and no one on, Pardini lifted her second home run in as many games to the bullpen, giving the Hoyas an early 1-0 lead.
- The Huskies would answer in a big way. UConn sent 13 batters to the plate in the bottom of the second, scoring eight runs on seven hits and turning the score, as they took an 8-1 lead into the third.
- After tossing two scoreless innings, the Huskies would add insurance in the bottom of the fourth courtesy of a grand slam, growing the lead to 12-1.
- The Hoyas would tally three runs in the top of the fifth with Strittmatter belting a three-run home run to trim the lead to 12-4, but the run-rule would still be in effect, as the Hoyas fell to UConn 12-4 in five innings.
Of Note
- Pardini tallied a home run in each game of Friday's doubleheader. The sophomore has four home runs, with three of them coming in conference play.
- Strittmatter hit her eighth home run of the season. The sophomore leads the team in both home runs and RBIs.
- Wissmar has pitched to a 0.98 ERA in her last 14.1 innings pitched.
- The graduate student has allowed just three runs over that span.
