WASHINGTON – On Tuesday, the BIG EAST Conference announced that Georgetown University's men's 4x800 relay team of James Dunne, Theo Woods, Tinoda Matsasta and Abel Teffra was named BIG EAST Male Track Athletes of the Week. At the Penn Relays in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in the College Men's 4x800 Championship of America the team delivered an incredible performance with a time of 7:13.95, a mark that earned the win in the field.
Head Coach Alton McKenzie
"Well-deserved recognition, exemplified by a true team effort from the quartet. The 4x800 win was very special because Abel got to anchor a winning relay squad on his last venture as a Hoya at the Penn Relays. It doesn't happen without everyone doing their part. Kudos to Coach Bonsey for putting together the winning team."
Assistant Coach Brandon Bonsey
"After a fun weekend at Penn it's nice for these four men to get this recognition. That field was incredibly good and Abel had to kick down an NCAA champion for us to get the win. It was a thrilling race and everyone on that relay did an outstanding job."
