WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's lightweight rowing team wrapped up its competition at Eastern Sprints in Worcester, Massachusetts. The lightweights sent four boats on Lake Quinsigamond across eight races in the full-day event on Sunday. The Varsity Lightweight A and B boats highlighted the day with first-place finishes in the Petite Final of both of its races, securing a bid to the IRA Regatta National Championships.
"We have been working towards this weekend all year. We came into this weekend with three goals: qualify the team for the IRA, beat our seeding, and finish top 6 in the Jope Cup Team points. We accomplished all three of those goals. We owe our results to the hard work each member of the team has put in this year as well as all the support we receive from our University, family and friends. We are especially thankful for our senior class who have led this team through to this point.
