WASHINGTON - Georgetown University Men's Soccer Head Coach
Brian Wiese announced the 2025 schedule presented by MedStar Health on Tuesday. The slate consists of three exhibitions and 17 regular season contests including 11 contests on the Hilltop which will begin in late August.
New for 2025, work is ongoing this summer for lights to be installed at Shaw Field. This will allow the Hoyas to play games in the evening on the Hilltop.
Georgetown will face six teams that appeared in the 2024 NCAA Championship including four that finished the season ranked among the top 25 as well as Vermont, the reigning national champion. The Blue & Gray competed in the NCAA second round a season ago and finished the season ranked No. 25 in the nation.
The Hoyas will host NCAA qualifier West Virginia and American for exhibition matches on August 8 and 10 before playing at Virginia on August 15 to close out the preseason. UVA also appeared in the 2024 NCAA Championship.
Georgetown's first regular season contest will be on the road as GU travels to High Point on Thursday, August 21. GU's home opener under the lights will be an early-season derby against Maryland on Monday, August 25 at 7:30 p.m. on the Hilltop.
The Maryland game is the first in a tough six-match homestand for the Blue & Gray. A matchup against Pitt is scheduled for Friday, August 29, with a contest against Vermont closing out the long weekend at home on Labor Day. The Hoyas will then stay at home for a Friday evening matchup against Duke on September 5.
The Blue & Gray will take on James Madison in a nonconference battle at home on September 9 before closing out the homestand against Rider on Saturday, September 13 at 7 p.m.
Georgetown will finish up nonconference play with contests at local-rival George Mason on September 23, and hosting Denver at Shaw Field on October 7.
The BIG EAST schedule begins on September 19 at Butler. The Blue & Gray will host four BIG EAST contests including matches against St. John's (Sept. 27), UConn (Oct. 11), Villanova (Oct. 25) and Xavier (Nov. 1). Road BIG EAST contests will include Butler as well as Seton Hall (Oct. 3), DePaul (Oct. 18) and Providence (Nov. 7).
The BIG EAST has two regional divisions, and each team is scheduled to play eight conference games, including each of the five teams in their respective divisions, and three teams from the out-of-region division.
Eight teams will make the BIG EAST Tournament in 2025. The team with the highest overall conference points will secure the No. 1 seed. The team in the opposite division with the highest conference point total will secure the No. 2 seed. The remaining six seeds, regardless of division, will be determined by conference point total. The top four seeds will host first round games on November 8.
The semifinal and final will be played at the Maryland SoccerPlex in Boyds, Maryland. The two semifinal games are scheduled for Thursday, November 13, while the championship game will be Sunday, November 16.
