WASHINGTON - Georgetown University men's rowing boasted four 2025 Empacher Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) All-Americans this past season.
Â
Heavyweight graduate student
Jesse Ryno was a second team honoree, while the lightweight squad had three winners in senior
Finn Callaghan on the first team, junior
Jack Lionette earning second team and freshman
Richard Kelley receiving the nod to honorable mention. It marks Callaghan's second honor after being named honorable mention in 2023. This is just the fifth season the IRCA has awarded All-America honors and the fourth time the Hoyas have earned the honor.
Â
In order to be named an "All-American", rowers and coxswains must have met the following criteria: the student-athlete must meet all eligibility rules defined by their institution, the student must have raced in their team's varsity boat for the current spring racing season, the student-athlete must be nominated by their institution and the head coach of the student athlete's institution must be in good standing with the IRCA.
Â
Nominated student-athletes are then selected by the IRCA Board of Directors to "First Team", "Second Team", or "Honorable Mention" based on the following criteria: strength of finish of the institution's varsity boat, nomination Rank within institution and coach's comments, individual achievements and erg score.
Â
There were 104 rowers and coxswains who met the criteria to be named a First Team, Second Team or Honorable Mention All-American. They represent 43 teams (37 heavyweight and six lightweight) from the 61-member programs.
