WASHINGTON - The Intercollegiate Rowing Coaches Association (IRCA) recently announced the 2024-25 Empacher-IRCA Scholar Athletes, with 36 Hoyas from the men's rowing squad earning the recognition.
 
To be eligible for recognition a student-athlete must have maintained a cumulative GPA of 3.50 or higher through the fall semester, be in their second year of eligibility or more at their institution and competed in one of the school's top three boats at the 2025 IRA National Championship Regatta.
 
There were 692 rowers and coxswains who met the criteria set by the Awards & Polling Committee, and a five percent increase over last year's 657 honorees. Winners represent 61 teams (54 heavyweight and seven lightweight) from the 61-member programs.
