WASHINGTON – Georgetown men's golf is sending two student-athletes to compete at the 125th U.S. Amateur Championship in San Francisco, California from August 11-17. After qualifying for the championship at the USGA qualifying, Barnes Blake and CJ Winchenbaugh will represent the Hoyas at the Olympic Club. This marks the first time in Georgetown men's golf history that two student-athletes will compete together at the U.S. Amateur Championship.
Format Overview
- Stroke Play Qualifying (August 11–12):
Two rounds of stroke play are contested over 36 holes (one round at the Lake Course and one at the Ocean Course) to determine the top 64 players who advance to match play. Ties for the final qualifying spots are resolved by a sudden-death playoff.
- Match Play Rounds:
- Round of 64 (August 13)
- Rounds of 32 & 16 (August 14)
- Quarterfinals (August 15)
- Semifinals (August 16)
All match play rounds through semifinals are 18-hole matches.
- Championship Final (August 17):
A 36-hole final match determines the champion, two rounds on the same day (morning and afternoon).
