WASHINGTON - The No. 16 Georgetown University women's soccer team played the No. 13 University of Virginia Cavaliers to a 1-1 tie on Sunday afternoon at Klöckner Stadium in Charlottesville, Virginia. With the draw, the Hoyas move to 2-0-2 on the season, while UVA sits at 4-0-1 for the year.
Head Coach Dave Nolan
- "Today was another good result on the road against an ACC opponent. We knew Virginia was a special team, and we wanted to take away some of the things they were good at but we knew we couldn't take away everything. We were doing a good job of taking the midfield in the first half, and then they scored on a free kick. Our players were frustrated with that at halftime, but we showed them what we had been seeing and told them not to deviate from the plan and our chances would come. In the second half, we had gotten them out of shape, and then Maja scored a great goal to tie it. I'm sure both teams and both coaches are disappointed not the get the win, but I think this is a fair result for the way the game was played. After two tough ACC opponents in Tech and Virginia, now we have to get ready for two games against the SEC. But I'm proud of our team today, Virginia is a tough place to play and it's good to come away with a positive result."
