No. 16/17 Hoyas Travel to Bucknell for Thursday Evening Matchup

WASHINGTON – The No. 16/17 Georgetown University women's soccer team will travel to Lewisburg, Pennsylvania to take on Bucknell on Thursday, September 11. Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. Georgetown is coming off a 1-0 victory against then-No.10 South Carolina on Sunday.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • Georgetown enters Thursday's contest with a 3-1-2 record after defeating then-No. 10 South Carolina on Sunday afternoon. Natalie Means scored the game winner for the Blue & Gray converting a penalty kick in the first half for her first goal of the season.
  • For her efforts last week, Cara Martin was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week. Martin made six saves in a 1-1 week for the Hoyas and was fantastic against then-No. 10 South Carolina earning her second shutout of the season with two saves to her credit.
  • Means earned a spot on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll after propelling GU to the 1-0 victory over the Gamecocks. GU has now had five weekly honors this season.  
  • Martin has logged all 540 minutes in goal for GU and boasts a 0.83 GAA with 19 saves on the season. Martin, the reigning BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year, has two shutouts on the campaign.
  • Maja Lardner paces the Hoya offense with five goals on the season, a mark good for 10 points. Lardner, the reigning BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Year, scored five goals in the Hoyas first four games of the season.
ABOUT BUCKNELL
  • Bucknell (2-4-1) is coming off a 1-1 tie with Pittsburgh on Sunday afternoon. Katie Connell tallied the lone Bison goal in the 69th minute helping secure the hard-fought point.
  • Henna Andican paces the Bison offense with nine points on the season off four goals and one assist. Katie Connell is second on the team in points with eight on three goals and two assists.
  • Reese Dolan and Jess Benattar have both seen action in goal while Dolan holds the edge in minutes played with 360 to Benattar's 270. Dolan boasts a 1.00 GAA and has 11 saves to her credit.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Georgetown is 5-2 all-time against Bucknell. The last meeting between the two sides was August 24, 2023, when GU secured a 1-0 victory behind an 85th minute goal from Brianne Riley.
  • GU is 5-0 in the last five meetings against the Bison. GU's largest victory was a 4-0 decision back in 2004.
  • Bucknell's two victories over the Hoyas were in 1994 and 1995.
