Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

No. 16 Georgetown Falls to Saint Mary’s

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University women's soccer team fell to the Saint Mary's Gaels 2-0 on Sunday afternoon. With the loss, GU slides to 4-2-2 while Saint Mary's improves to 5-1-1.

Head Coach Dave Nolan
"Yeah, today was definitely a hard one to take. I felt in the run of play, we certainly deserved far better, but we didn't help ourselves. We had a couple of moments in front of goal, but at the end of the day, for the amount of possession we had, for the amount of balls in the final third we had, for the amount of corner kicks we had, we need to be able to generate some more chances, and right now we just don't seem to be able to find some goals.

We can't give away the nature of the goals that we gave up today. It makes it even harder. Our kids will be disappointed. They tried hard, and we did everything we could. We tried different systems. We tried different personnel. You know, we had some people out there trying to make plays. Probably what we needed was maybe a cooler head in moments, and maybe, you know, better decisions when we were on the edge of the box instead of trying to snatch things or force things. But that's soccer for you, sometimes the best team doesn't win and sometimes you have to hope that you're on the other side of one of those games where maybe you only get three shots in the game, and you win the game. It's a disappointment to lose at Shaw Field and when we've been on a really good run.

Now we just got to go get ready for conference play starting on Saturday night out in Omaha against Creighton, which is going to be a real battle. So, we're going to have to dust ourselves off and get back on the horse for that game."
