Georgetown Travels to Butler for BIG EAST Opener

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University men's soccer team will open up BIG EAST Conference play on Friday evening at Butler University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m., and the game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

  • Georgetown won its second-consecutive contest on Saturday by a score of 4-0 as the squad downed the Rider Broncs.
  • Senior Zach Zengue scored two goals in the contest as six Hoyas scored a point.
  • Zengue's brace was the third of his career, while Jack Lindimore's goal and Matthew Helfrich's assist was the first of their careers.
  • On Monday, freshman Will Caldwell was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week as well as the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week. Additionally, senior Max Viera was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
  • Caldwell was a part of two shutouts in two starts, and scored his first-career goal against James Madison.
  • Viera scored a pair of goals against JMU, while also tallying an assist and drawing a penalty in the Rider contest.

  • Sophomore Mitchell Baker is second with three goals, and Viera is third notching two goals and one assist for the Blue & Gray.

  • Friday will be GU's first contest away from home since August 21 at High Point.
About the Bulldogs
  • Butler is 2-5 on the season and coming off of a 4-0 loss against Ohio State on Saturday.
