About the Hoyas
  • The Hoyas managed a big 5-1 victory over then-No. 23/20 High Point last Friday evening at Shaw Field.
  • The Blue & Gray took an early lead and never looked back as eight different Hoyas scored a goal in the contest.
  • On Monday, junior Tate Lampman earned BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week honors, while Matthew Van Horn was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
  • Lampman delivered a standout two-way performance in Georgetown's 5-1 victory over No. 23 High Point on Friday night, totaling two goals and an assist for five points.
  • The junior defender factored into three of the Hoyas' five goals and finished second among all BIG EAST players in points for the week.
  • Lampman also helped anchor a Georgetown back line that limited the nationally ranked Panthers to a single goal as the Hoyas earned a lopsided ranked win.
  • Van Horn recorded a pair of assists in Georgetown's 5-1 victory over No. 23 High Point, tying for the league lead in assists during the week.
  • Junior Mitchell Baker is leading the squad in scoring with six goals and two assists for 14 points on the season. He is followed by Lampman with nine (4G, 1A) and Van Horn with seven (1G, 5A).
  • The Hoyas are currently ranked No. 9 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, and No. 13 by TopDrawerSoccer.com.
About the Golden Eagles
  • Marquette is having one of its best starts in years with a 5-1-1 overall record heading into league play.
  • The team is led by Tomiwa Adewumi who was named the BIG EAST Offensive Player and Freshman of the Week on Monday.
  • Adewumi recorded his first career hat trick in Marquette's 3-2 victory over Southern Indiana, scoring all three goals over the final 22 minutes.
  • His eight goals lead the BIG EAST and are the most by a freshman nationally.
  • MU is young with 15 new faces on the roster including four transfers and 11 freshmen.
Series Info
  • Georgetown is 16-2-3 all-time against Marquette and 10-0-1 at home.
  • Despite both playing in the BIG EAST Conference, the squads have not met since 2023 when Georgetown won, 2-1, in Milwaukee.
  • The last meeting at Shaw Field was a 1-0 Hoya victory during the 2022 campaign.
