Georgetown Football Takes on Wagner in Home Opener

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University football team will take on Wagner for the first time since 2014 in GU's home opener on Saturday, September 6. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 PM at Cooper Field.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • GU is coming off a 51-14 victory at Davidson to open the 2025 campaign.
  • Sophomore running back Savion Hart earned a Patriot League Weekly Honorable mention after he led the Hoyas with a career high of three touchdowns in the first quarter. The sophomore's longest rushing touchdown was for 69 yards, while his longest touchdown catch was for 79 yards. Hart also led the offense with 201 all-purpose yards and is tied for fourth in the nation. The sophomore rushed eight times for 123 yards, averaging 15.4 yards per attempt. 
  • Patriot League Freshman of the Week, Brian Allen, recorded six tackles (4 solo, 2 assists) in the win. 
  • Senior quarterbacks Danny Lauter and Dez Thomas II split time for the Hoyas. Lauter completed 11-16 passes for 135 yards and one touchdown, while Thomas II completed 6-7 pass attempts for 126 yards and one touchdown.
  • Georgetown is ranked fourth in the nation in passing efficiency (212.28) and third down conversion percentage (66.7%).
  • Senior wide receiver Jimmy Kibble is climbing up the Georgetown record book. After recording two receptions for 58 yards and one touchdown at Davidson, Kibble is now sixth in career receiving yards (1649) and seventh in career receiving touchdowns. 
ABOUT THE SEAHAWKS
  • Wagner enters Saturday's matchup after falling 46-7 to FBS Kansas. 
  • Sophomore quarterback Jack Stevens completed 13-of-20 pass attempts for 90 yards and one touchdown.
  • Senior Jeremiah Colclough caught a 45-yard touchdown pass for the Seahawks' lone score of the afternoon.
  • Graduate student Andre Hines Jr. led Wagner on the ground with 25 rushing yards on eight carries.
  • Defensively, senior Sam Martin paced the Seahawks with seven tackles, junior Freddie Camp added six, and senior Jayden Brown recorded an interception.
ABOUT THE MATCHUP
  • Georgetown and Wagner are meeting for the 7th time, with the Hoyas and Seahawks splitting a 3-3 record.  
  • The Hoyas and Seahawks last met in the 2014 season opener. GU fell 21-3 on Cooper Field. 
  • The Blue & Gray's last win over Wager was a 13-10 victory on September 8, 2012, on the Hilltop.
