WASHINGTON – Georgetown University men's basketball's
KJ Lewis was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll, as announced by the league office in New York on Monday. The award comes after the Hoyas went 1-1 in a pair of road games last week. Georgetown slipped 66-51 at Villanova on Wednesday before turning in a come-from-behind 81-78 victory at Providence, erasing a 21-point deficit on Saturday. The honors mark the Blue & Gray's sixth recognition from the league and Lewis' fifth nod to the honor roll this season.
KJ LEWIS (JUNIOR / GUARD / 6-4 / 210 / EL PASO, TEXAS) - BIG EAST HONOR ROLL
- Following a pair of games for the Blue & Gray last week, Lewis averaged 19.0 ppg on 56.0% (14-25) shooting to go along with 3.5 rpg and 1.5 spg.
- Against Villanova, Lewis tallied 12 points on four made field goals to go along with a quartet of free throws in the contest.
- In the comeback victory in Friartown, Lewis tallied 26 points, with 21 coming in the second half alone, on 10-for-15 shooting, including a quartet of 3-pointers, to go along with five rebounds and a pair of steals.
- He was one point shy of matching his collegiate best with 26 points while his 10 made field goals is a new career record for the junior. With 21 points in the second half, the El Paso native set the standard with the most points in either half for the Hoyas this season.
- Lewis ranks ninth in the BIG EAST in scoring with 15.3 ppg while recording 2.0 spg to rank third in the league.
- This is Lewis' fifth accolade from the league this season, previously being named to the Honor Roll on November 10, November 17, December 29 and January 5.
- It is the sixth recognition for the Blue & Gray this campaign as Julius Halaifonua was named to the honor roll on December 29.
