Georgetown Hosts DePaul in Midweek Tilt

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team hosts the DePaul University Blue Demons at Capital One Arena on Wednesday evening. Tipoff in the District is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • In the last outing, Georgetown (10-10, 2-7 BE) trailed by as many as 21 and were down 59-39 with 13:04 to play before using a 42-19 run through the end of regulation to complete the comeback at Providence, 81-78. KJ Lewis led a trio of Hoyas in double figures with 26 points, 21 alone in the second half, on 10-for-15 shooting to go along with five boards, two steals and one assist. Vince Iwuchukwu added 16 points while Malik Mack chipped in 13. Caleb Williams led the Blue & Gray on the glass collecting seven boards while Mack's trio of assists paced the offense.
  • For his efforts in a 1-1 week for the Blue & Gray that saw him average 19.0 ppg on 56.0% (14-25) shooting as well as 3.5 rpg and 1.5 spg, Lewis was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday.
  • A quartet of Hoyas are scoring in double figures led by Lewis who is tallying 15.3 ppg, followed by Mack (13.8 ppg), Iwuchukwu (10.3 ppg) and C. Williams (10.0 ppg). Lewis ranks ninth in the BE in scoring.
  • C. Williams leads the Hoyas on the glass grabbing 5.6 rpg, followed by Iwuchukwu and Lewis, each pulling down 5.3 rpg.
  • Mack paces the offense with 4.2 apg, which ranks sixth in the league, followed by Lewis who averages 2.7 apg.
  • Lewis ranks third in the BIG EAST and leads the Hoyas in strips with 2.0 spg.
  • Before the start of the 2025-26 season, Lewis was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team and Mack was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Third Team. The Hoyas were also selected sixth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll in Head Coach Ed Cooley's third season at the helm.
 
ABOUT THE BLUE DEMONS
  • DePaul enters the matchup with a 12-8 start to the 2025-26 season, including a 4-5 mark in BIG EAST play.
  • In its last outing, DePaul defeated Seton Hall 67-60 at Wintrust Arena on Saturday Afternoon. CJ Gunn led a quartet of Blue Demons in double-figures with 19 points, while Brandon Maclin scored 14 points, RJ Smith posted 11 points and Layden Blocker chipped in 10 points. NJ Benson led DePaul on the glass, pulling down 10 rebounds, while Maclin's five assists paced the offense.
  • Gunn leads DePaul in scoring with 14.8 ppg, followed by Blocker (11.9 ppg) and Benson (10.3 ppg) to round out those averaging double figures.
  • Benson grabs 7.1 rpg to lead the Blue Demons, while Maclin averages 4.6 rpg and Gunn pulls down 3.8 rpg.
  • Blocker paces DePaul's offense, dishing out 3.8 apg.
  • DePaul is led by Head Coach Chris Holtmann in his second season.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Georgetown and DePaul will meet for the 55th time in program history, with the Hoyas holding a 36-18 advantage in the series.
  • The last meeting between the two teams was earlier this month on January 6, 2026 with the Hoyas falling 56-50 on the road. KJ Lewis was the lone scorer in double-figures, posting 18 points on five made field goals and eight free throws. Lewis also led on the glass, grabbing seven boards. A quartet of Hoyas, including Mack, C. Williams, Halaifonua and Iwuchukwu dished out one assist apiece.
  • Georgetown's last victory was on February 24, 2024, a 77-76 win on the road at Wintrust Arena.
  • Cooley is 19-10 all-time against DePaul and sits at 5-6 against Holtmann in his career.
