Georgetown Men’s Basketball Visits DePaul for Midweek Matchup

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball is set to travel to Chicago for a Tuesday night matchup with the DePaul University Blue Demons. Tipoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET at Wintrust Arena.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • In the last outing, Georgetown (9-5, 1-2 BE) fell to St. John's on New Year's Eve, 95-83, at Capital One Arena. KJ Lewis led a pair of Hoyas in double figures with a career-best 27 points on eight made field goals and a perfect 10-for-10 performance at the charity stripe. Malik Mack scored 18 points on 7-for-15 shooting from the field, including a 4-for-7 performance from beyond the arc. Jayden Fort snagged a squad-best and career-high eight rebounds, while Mack's eight assists paced the Hoya offense.
  • A quintet of Hoyas are scoring in double figures led by Lewis who is tallying 15.2 ppg, while Mack averages 14.8 ppg, Vince Iwuchukwu adds 11.8 ppg, Julius Halaifonua manages 11.6 ppg and Caleb Williams notches 11.0 ppg. Lewis' 15.2 ppg ranks 10th in the BIG EAST conference.
  • C. Williams leads the Hoyas on the glass grabbing 5.8 rpg, followed by Lewis (5.6 rpg) and Halaifonua (4.9 rpg).
  • Mack paces the offense with 4.7 apg, which ranks fourth in the league, followed by Lewis who averages 3.1 apg.
  • Lewis ranks second in the BIG EAST and leads the Hoyas in strips with 2.2 spg.
  • Before the start of the 2025-26 season, Lewis was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team and Mack was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Third Team. The Hoyas were also selected sixth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll in Head Coach Ed Cooley's third season at the helm.
 
ABOUT THE BLUE DEMONS
  • DePaul enters the matchup with a 9-4 start to the 2025-26 season, including a 1-3 mark in BIG EAST play.
  • DePaul went 14-20 during the 2024-25 season with a 4-16 mark in the conference.
  • In its last outing, DePaul defeated Xavier on January 3 at Wintrust Arena, 86-77. CJ Gunn led a half dozen of Blue Demons in scoring in double figures with 22 points, Layden Blocker followed with 18 points, Brandon Maclin chipped in 13, Kaleb Banks added 11, while RJ Smith and NJ Benson each tallied 10. Banks and Benson led the Blue Demons on the glass with seven rebounds apiece while Smith paced the offense with six assists.
  • Gunn leads DPU in scoring, averaging 14.4 ppg, followed by Blocker (11.5 ppg) and Benson (10.8 ppg) to round out those in double figures.
  • Benson leads the Blue Demons on the glass, grabbing 6.5 rpg.
  • Blocker's 3.7 apg paces DePaul's offense.
  • DePaul is led by Head Coach Chris Holtmann in his second season.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Georgetown and DePaul will meet for the 54th time in program history, with the Hoyas holding a 36-17 record in the series.
  • The last meeting between the two teams was March 12, 2025 with the Blue & Gray falling 71-67 at Madison Square Garden in the first round of the 2025 BIG EAST Tournament. Micah Peavy, now with the New Orleans Pelicans, led the scoring for the Hoyas with 26 points on 10-for-16 shooting, adding seven rebounds and two steals.
  • The last GU win was on February 24, 2024, a 77-76 win on the road at Wintrust Arena.
