Georgetown Men’s Basketball Hosts Villanova on Saturday in Annual Gray Out Game

WASHINGTON – The Georgetown University men's basketball team is set to host the Villanova University Wildcats at Capital One Arena on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for noon. The game marks Georgetown's annual Gray Out Game Presented by MedStar Health.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • In the last outing, Georgetown (13-10, 5-7 BE) defeated the visiting Creighton University Bluejays 76-68 at Capital One Arena for its fourth win in a row. KJ Lewis (22) and Malik Mack (20) combined for 42 points to lead a trio of Hoyas in double figures. Vince Iwuchuku recorded his second double-double on the year with 14 points and 10 rebounds. Caleb Williams also pulled down a team-high 10 boards to join Iwuchukwu as GU's leader on the glass. Lewis and C. Williams paced the offense with three assists apiece. 
  • For his efforts in a 2-0 week, Mack was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday after averaging 15.0 ppg and 6.5 apg following wins against DePaul and at Butler.
  • A trio of Hoyas are scoring in double figures led by Lewis who is tallying 15.2 ppg, followed by Mack (14.2 ppg) and Iwuchukwu (11.1 ppg). Lewis ranks eighth in the BE in scoring.
  • C. Williams leads the Hoyas on the glass grabbing 5.7 rpg, followed by Iwuchukwu with 5.5 rpg.
  • Mack paces the offense with 4.3 apg, which ranks sixth in the league, followed by Lewis who averages 2.7 apg.
  • Lewis ranks second in the BIG EAST and leads the Hoyas in strips with 2.17 spg.
  • Before the start of the 2025-26 season, Lewis was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Second Team and Mack was named to the Preseason All-BIG EAST Third Team. The Hoyas were also selected sixth in the BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll in Head Coach Ed Cooley's third season at the helm.
 
ABOUT THE WILDCATS
  • Villanova enters the matchup with a 17-5 record for the 2025-26 season, including an 8-3 mark in BIG EAST play.
  • In its last outing, Villanova defeated Seton Hall 75-60 at Finneran Pavilion on Wednesday evening. Tyler Perkins led the WIldcats in scoring with 18 points on 6-for-13 shooting and a 5-for-5 performance at the charity stripe. Malachi Palmer scored 15 points on five made field goals and a 2-for-2 performance at the charity stripe. Duke Brennan pulled down a team-best 10 rebounds. Acaden Lewis paced the offense with six assists.
  • Bryce Lindsay leads Villanova in scoring with 13.6 ppg, followed by Perkins (13.0 ppg), Brennan (12.0 ppg), Lewis (11.8 ppg) and Devin Askew (10.3 ppg) to round out those averaging double figures.
  • Brennan is grabbing 10.6 rpg to lead Villanova on the boards.
  • Lewis and Lindsay pace the Villanova offense with 5.3 apg and 2.1 apg, respectively.
  • Villanova is led by Head Coach Kevin Willard in his first season with the 'Cats.
 
ABOUT THE SERIES
  • Georgetown and Villanova will meet for the 100th time in program history, with the Hoyas trailing 52-47 in the series.
  • The last meeting between the two teams was last month when the Hoyas fell 66-51 on the road.  Kayvaun Mulready and Lewis led the Hoyas in scoring with 12 points apiece. Iwuchukwu and Halaifonua snagged a team-high eight boards while Mack paced the offense with five assists.
  • Georgetown's last victory was on March 4, 2025, a 75-73 win at Capital One Arena. A quartet of Hoyas scored in double figures, including Jayden Epps who tallied the game winner en route to 20 points. Micah Peavy, now with the New Orleans Pelicans, added 19, while Jordan Burks chipped in 14 and Mack added 10.
  • Cooley is 10-22 all-time against Villanova and sits at 14-15 against Willard in his career.
