Georgetown Hosts Lafayette in Wednesday Doubleheader

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team (7-7) will host the Lafayette College Leopards in a nonconference doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon at the Mount Vernon Softball Complex in Washington, D.C. First pitch is scheduled for 2 p.m., with the second contest to follow around 4:30 p.m.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas are coming off of a 1-2 BIG EAST Conference weekend at DePaul.
  • GU fell 5-2 in the first game, but came back with a huge 20-5 victory in the second.
  • The 20 runs tied the program record for most runs scored in a game.
  • In the final game, Georgetown battled with the Blue Demons but eventually fell 8-7 on a walk-off in eight innings.
  • Dayanara Campos leads the team at the plate batting .387 with four home runs. Her 24 homers rank her third on GU's all-time list.
  • Classmate Claire Turner is averaging .353 with 18 hits on the season, while Brooke Rebhan is hitting .314 with a squad-high 11 RBI.
  • Catherine Larson has a 3.27 ERA in the circle with 31 strikeouts on the year, while Emily Collins also has 31 strikeouts with a 3.60 ERA.
ABOUT THE LEOPARDS
  • Lafayette is 6-16 this season and in the DC region for games over spring break.
  • On Tuesday, the squad has a doubleheader at George Mason before returning to Patriot League action next weekend.
  • Kylee Sweet leads the squad at the plate with a .381 batting average as well as 24 hits and 14 RBI.
  • She is followed by Caroline Hall hitting .358 with 24 hits and 11 RBI to her credit.
  • Lafayette has four main pitchers with Parker Rowden leading the way with a 4.26 ERA and 12 strikeouts on the season.
SERIES INFO
  • Georgetown is 1-1 all-time against the Leopards with both meetings coming earlier this season in Wilmington, North Carolina.
  • GU won the first matchup, 3-2, but fell in the second, 7-5.
