Hoyas Host St. John’s in BIG EAST Series

WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University softball team (8-8, 1-2 BIG EAST) will host the St. John's University Red Storm (20-8, 1-2 BIG EAST) in a BIG EAST Conference series this weekend at the Mount Vernon Softball Complex in Washington, D.C. The teams will play a game on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with first pitch scheduled for noon on all three days.

ABOUT THE HOYAS
  • The Hoyas are coming off of a 1-1 doubleheader against Lafayette on Wednesday afternoon in Washington, D.C.
  • Georgetown won the first game, 9-3, but fell in eight innings in the second by a score of 4-2.
  • The Hoyas opened BIG EAST play going 1-2 at DePaul.
  • GU fell 5-2 in the first game, but came back with a huge 20-5 victory in the second.
  • The 20 runs tied the program record for most runs scored in a game.
  • In the final game, Georgetown battled with the Blue Demons but eventually fell 8-7 on a walk-off in eight innings.
  • Devyn Johnson leads the team at the plate batting .367, while Emily Strittmatter is second hitting .357.
  • Dayanara Campos has a squad-high five home runs as well as 11 RBI while hitting .351. Her 25 career home runs place her in third on GU's all-time list and just five away from breaking the record.

ABOUT THE RED STORM
  • The Red Storm managed a 7-3 victory over Fordham on Wednesday winning its fifth-straight contest.
  • Ana Serafinko powered the Red Storm in the midweek win, recording a career-high five RBIs, highlighted by a grand slam, while also striking out four batters across three innings of relief.
  • The senior was named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season and the sixth time in her career after recording two victories and a save during a 4-0 weekend.
  • Jess Bianco leads the BIG EAST with 39 hits this season and has totaled 104 career stolen bases, which ranks third among active NCAA Division I players.
