Georgetown Volleyball Announces Five Newcomers for 2026 Season

WASHINGTON – Georgetown University Head Volleyball Coach AJ Bonetti announced Monday the addition of five newcomers to the roster ahead of the upcoming 2026 season. The incoming class features graduate transfer libero Bella McGirr alongside an accomplished freshman group that includes Olivia Penske, Avery Lewis, Lexi Anderson and Addie Lloyd.

Bella McGirr - Greenbrae, California / Marin Catholic / Boise State
 
Position: Libero
Club Team: Absolute Volleyball
Accolades: Named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week in 2023, earned Academic All-Mountain West honors from 2022 to 2025, and was recognized as a Mountain West Scholar-Athlete from 2023 to 2025. Last season, she recorded 238 digs, 46 assists and 14 aces in 31 matches for the Broncos, averaging 2.00 digs, 0.39 assists and 0.12 aces per set.

"Bella brings a wealth of collegiate experience and a proven track record as a libero. Her maturity, court vision and leadership will be invaluable to our backcourt."
 
 
 
Lexi Anderson - Frisco, Texas / Centennial High School
 
Position: Outside Hitter
Club Teams: TAV (2021&2022), Drive Nation (2023), Skyline (2024), 1United (2025), Madfrog (2026)
Accolades: Anderson was named a third-team 5A All-State and first-team all-district selection in 2025. She previously earned second-team all-district honors in 2024 and consecutive honorable mention nods in 2022 and 2023. A product of the USA Volleyball National Team Development Program (2023 and 2024), she wrapped up her prep career with 1,151 kills and 539 digs.
 
Coach Bonetti on Anderson:
"Lexi is an outside hitter who competes with great energy and fearlessness. Her ability to score will translate beautifully to the college game."
 
 
 
Avery Lewis - Indianapolis, Indiana / Cathedral High School
 
Position: Pin Hitter
Club Teams: Munciana (2022), Boiler Jrs (2023), Academy Volleyball Club (2024-2026)
Accolades: A 2026 IndyStar High School Sports Awards nominee, she was a two-time 3A All-State selection, earning first-team honors in 2025 and second-team honors in 2024. She also earned 2025 All-District, Marion County All-City and IndyStar Super Team second-team honors while twice landing on the City-Alliance All-Tournament team. Academically, she received the 2025 IHSVCA Academic All-State Gold Award and back-to-back Highest GPA Scholar Awards. She helped lead her team to four consecutive City-Alliance and sectional championships from 2023 to 2026.

"Avery is going to be a very fun student-athlete to work with. She has the ability to affect the offense across the entire front row, and we will look to incorporate those unique skillsets appropriately."
 
 
 
Addie Lloyd - Dallas, Texas / Lovejoy High School
 
Position: Middle Blocker
Club Team: Club Fusion (2019-2025)
Accolades: A two-time co-Offensive Player of the Year and Academic All-District selection from 2024 to 2025, Lloyd also received the program's Leopard Award in 2025. She helped anchor a roster that captured the 2023 UIL Texas 5A Division II state championship, marking the school's 10th state title.
 
What drew you to Georgetown?
"I decided on Georgetown because not only did the atmosphere and the rigorous academics persuade my decision, but the coaching staff and the friendships the girls on the team had seemed unmatched. I wanted an area that felt like home and gave me my best friends for life, and although I haven't even started my freshman year at Georgetown, I can say with full confidence that I already know Georgetown will be the place to do that."
 
Coach Bonetti on Lloyd:
"Addie brings incredible length, lateral quickness, and championship experience to our middle blocker group. She is a relentless worker both offensively and defensively, and we are excited to see her thrive in a Hoya uniform."
 
 
 
Olivia Penske - Los Angeles, California / Marymount High School
 
Position: Setter
Club Team: Sunshine (2018-2026)
Accolades: A second-team All-Mission League selection in 2025, she was also named to the All-CIF Southern Section team. She was ranked sixth in California and named to the Prep Dig Volleyball Watchlist in 2023. She finished her high school career with 2,189 assists.
 
What drew you to Georgetown?
"I came to Georgetown because of its strong community and balance of sports and academics."

"Olivia is an accomplished setter with a high volleyball IQ and consistent locations. She has competed against some of the best talent in California, and her ability to run a dynamic offense will elevate our gym immediately."
