WASHINGTON - The Georgetown University women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw against Virginia on Sunday afternoon at Shaw Field. With the draw, GU moves to 1-2-2 on the season, while Virginia moves to 2-1-2.

   •   "Overall, I'm very happy with the performance. You know, we needed a good performance against a good team to just give this team the confidence to go on and play against good teams. You know, we felt we deserved a little bit better against Virginia Tech. Didn't get the result. But today, we did really well. We kept their chances down to a minimum. And actually, we probably had the clearest chances of the day with the three or four counterattacks we got. On another day, we may have got one of them."
About the Match?
   •   The Hoyas created the first opportunity of the match in the 15th minute when Evelyn Casadaban swung a corner kick into the box where the ball fell to Spengler, but her attempt was blocked by the Cavaliers defense to keep the match scoreless.
   •   Just two minutes later, Georgetown's defense came up with a crucial play of its own. Virginia sent a dangerous ball into the box, but Kaya Hanson stepped in at the last second to clear the threat and keep the match level.
   •   Aliza Mannon nearly put the Hoyas in front late in the half, but her dangerous attempt was narrowly turned away by the Virginia goalkeeper, sending the match into halftime scoreless.
   •   Virginia came out firing to open the second half, but Reiley Fitzpatrick was up to the task, making an incredible diving save on a powerful shot from outside the box to keep the Cavaliers off the board.
   •   Fitzpatrick came up big once again in the 55th minute, denying a Virginia one-on-one opportunity to preserve the 0-0 scoreline.
   •   The Cavaliers continued to apply pressure, but the Georgetown defense stood tall. Hanson came up with a crucial block on a dangerous Virginia attempt that appeared destined for the back of the net, keeping the match level.
   •   In the 88th minute, Georgetown came inches away from taking the lead when Mannon beat her defender and fired a shot just over the crossbar.
   •   Both sides continued to trade chances throughout the closing minutes, but neither could find the breakthrough as the match ended in a 0-0 draw.

   •   Fitzpatrick collected a pair of saves on the day.Â
   •   The Hoyas and Cavaliers were level on corners at four apiece.
