Georgetown University’s Department of Sports Medicine supports the University mission of cura personalis, meaning, “care of the whole person,” (mind, body, and spirit). As part of this philosophy, and through generous donor contributions, we are excited to have Dr. Erica Force on our team as Head of Athletic Counseling Services. Dr. Force is embedded full-time within the Athletic Department through collaboration with the Counseling and Psychiatric Services (CAPS) office. Should student-athletes feel the need to seek mental health services, please see the information below.

Athletic Counseling Services provides mental health and performance psychology services for student-athletes at Georgetown University. With an office location in the Athletic Department, we currently have one licensed mental health practitioner dedicated to supporting the mental health, well-being, and performance goals of Georgetown University student-athletes. Dr. Erica Force is a licensed psychologist and certified mental performance consultant specializing in sport psychology. Her office is located in McDonough Arena, room E114, and she is available for scheduled appointments. Student-athletes can contact Dr. Force directly at erica.force@georgetown.edu; or work with their athletic trainer to schedule an appointment.
