The Georgetown University Sports Medicine staff would like to welcome you to Washington, D.C., during your season.

We hope the following information will help you prepare for your upcoming visit.

Facilities

  • John R. Thompson Jr. Intercollegiate Athletic Center (TAC) – Host to all 30 teams and all student athletes for injury / illness needs. Home to a staff of 12 certified athletic trainers, as well as team physicians. All modalities are available here and the TAC serves as the main hub for medical care of our 700 student athletes.
  • Cooper Field - Plays host to football, field hockey, men's and women's lacrosse. The complex is directly east of McDonough Arena and TAC.
  • Shaw Field- This holds all of men's and women's soccer contests and is located behind Kehoe Field.
  • McCarthy Pool - The pool hosts all the swimming & diving meets, the pool is located on campus in Yates Field House.
  • Shirley Povich Field- The baseball complex is located 14 miles from main campus. The complex has no satellite facility. Water, ice, cups and emergency equipment will be provided.
  • Nats Academy - Located 10 miles from campus, Nats Academy has an indoor facility which houses batting cages and a warm up area. Emergency equipment, water and ice will be provided by the host athletic trainer. 
  • Capital One Arena - This venue holds most men's basketball contests. It is located 3.5 miles off campus. Some amenities are available.
  • Thompson Boat Center - Located approximately 2 miles from campus, the Thompson Boat Center is located on the Potomac River and houses the men’s and women’s crew teams. 
  • Washington Sailing Marina - Located about 7 miles from Georgetown’s campus, the Washington Sailing Marina is the location for both the men’s and women’s sailing teams. 
  • The Army Navy, Four Streams, and Kenwood Country Clubs - Serve as home courses for Georgetown’s men’s and women’s golf teams. 


Facilities Directions

Contest Coverage
Georgetown University will provide a host certified athletic trainer for most contests. A team physician(s) will be in attendance or on-call if their services are warranted. On-site EMS services are provided for select events.

Equipment and Supplies

  • The athletic training room will be open at least two hours before contests.
  • If your team will need the facilities at other times during your trip, accessibility to the athletic training room can be arranged.
  • Water, ice, cups, and emergency equipment (crutches, splints, AED) will be provided.
  • We ask if your team is traveling without a certified athletic trainer please notify the appropriate athletic trainer.
  • Please send appropriate materials (i.e. taping supplies, etc) that your team may require during their trip.
  • Teams traveling without a certified athletic trainer will need a prescription from the team's athletic trainer or physician for all modalities.
