Ruben Boumtje Boumtje racks up 18 points, 10 rebounds for Hoyas.
WASHINGTON (Dec. 8, 1999) -- Ruben Boumtje Boumtje had 18 points, 10 rebounds and six blocked shots as Georgetown beat Bethune-Cookman 83-76 on Wednesday night.
Anthony Perry added 16 points and Kevin Braswell 15 for the Hoyas (4-3), who improved to 4-0 against Bethune-Cookman and 31-0 against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foes.
Antoine Toliver scored 20 points in his first game for the Wildcats (2-3), who overcame an 8-for-41 effort from the field in the first half by taking advantage of a season-high 32 turnovers by Georgetown.
Braswell's two free throws gave the Hoyas a 63-36 lead, their largest of the game, with 7:46 remaining in the second half. But Bethune-Cookman outscored Georgetown 17-4 over the next 2:07, with Brian Cox contributing eight points.
Georgetown was held to two field goals in the final six minutes as Bethune-Cookman connected on three 3-pointers. Larry Gilbert's trey with 35.9 seconds left in regulation cut the Hoyas' lead to 77-74.
But the Hoyas scored the next six points to cement their fourth win in five games.
Wildcats leading scorer Freddie Cole, who came into the game averaging 20 points, was limited to five points on 2-for-10 shooting. Gilbert had 12 points for Bethune-Cookman, which has lost three straight.
