WASHINGTON (AP) (Jan. 2) - Ruben Boumtje Boumtje had 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds as Georgetown dominated the boards and beat James Madison 63-48.
The Hoyas (8-3), who outrebounded JMU 53-33, received 16 points and 10 rebounds from Anthony Perry and 12 points - all in the second half - from Kevin Braswell.
JMU (7-5) got 17 points and five assists from Jabari Outtz, a former player at Howard University in Washington. Mickey Dennis added 12 points for the Dukes, who shot a season-low 28.8 percent against taller and quicker Georgetown.
Georgetown, now 7-0 at home, entered the game ranked third in the nation in field-goal percentage defense at .342 percent. The Hoyas had 24 offensive rebounds against JMU.
The Dukes, who trailed by 16 points in the first half, cut the lead to 43-37 with 10:37 left in the game on two free throws by Rob Strickland. But Perry hit a three-pointer to give the Hoyas a 50-39 lead.
Braswell, who missed his only shot in the first half, hit two three-pointers down the stretch, the last giving the Hoyas a 58-43 edge.
The only other meeting between the teams was in 1981, when JMU beat Georgetown 61-55 in the first round of the NCAA Eastern Regional tournament in Providence, R.I.
