VILLANOVA, PA. -- The Georgetown University women's lacrosse team, ranked sixth in the nation, earned its first shutout of the season with a 17-0 win over Villanova University on Wednesday, March 15, at Villanova Stadium. Sophomore All-American attacker Erin Elbe led the Hoyas with a season-high four goals, while All-American attacker Sheehan Stanwick contributed three goals and an assist and senior midfielder Kristen Baer added two goals and a game-high five assists. The Hoyas improve to 4-0 on the season, while the Wildcats fall to 1-3.

Georgetown controlled every aspect of the game. Elbe tallied four of her five goals in the first period, while Sheehan Stanwick notched three. Baer, junior midfielder Sarah Oglesby, freshman attacker Wick Stanwick, and sophomore attacker Kate Ahearn also joined in the first stanza's scoring action. GU took an 11-0 lead into the half.

Fittingly, Elbe struck first in the second stanza with a goal just 36 seconds into the period off an assist from Baer. Baer, senior attacker Jori Keating, Wick Stanwick, and sophomore midfielders Sue Graser and Brenna Supple all scored second-half goals for the Hoyas to make the final score 17-0.

Junior Bowen Holden and sophomore Chandler Vicchio once again split time in the goal cage for the Hoyas. Holden rejected 10 shots on the day, while Vicchio turned away three Wildcats' shot. Georgetown outshot Villanova 38-13 for the game.
