Hoyas Fall to Spiders, 1-0, in Final Game

Washington, D.C. ?The Georgetown women's field hockey team ended their 2001 season with a 1-0 loss to the University of Richmond Spiders today. The Hoyas' record falls to 10-5, while the Spiders improve to 10-9.

The teams played to a scoreless tie in the first half before Richmond's Heather Rice struck with her 14^th goal of the season less than five minutes into the second stanza. Richmond freshman Amy Wilson fed Rice in the right corner of the circle who found an opening in the left corner of the box.

The Hoyas out shot the Spiders 9-7 but were not able to score.

Georgetown goaltender Jessica Herring (Ocean, N.J./Ocean Township) posted three saves in a losing effort.
