The Skinny
Georgetown had never played in Easton, Pa. till last season and today?s game marks the second straight year the Hoyas pay a visit to Lafayette?s Fisher Field. GU has yet to post a 1 in the "W" column and has lost twice on the road with both opponents putting up 42 points against the Hoyas? "D". Lafayette is undefeated at home in 2003 recording a 49-0 shutout against Marist and a 28-13 win last weekend over Princeton.
The Blue and Gray?s offense has been chewing up yardage (342.2 yards per game) but has accounted for over 20 points in only one game. The red-zone has proven difficult field position for the Hoyas as they have converted on only 6-of-12 opportunites. GU has relied on the big strike for points as six of the Hoyas 11 touchdowns have come off passing plays of over 30 yards. Wideout Luke McArdle has snared five of those big hitters from quarterback Andrew Crawford for plays of 35, 68, 40, 55 and 31 yards.
Lafayette?s defense is a strong point in 2003, currently ranking fifth in the nation by allowing only 234 yards of total offense a game. The other side of the ball is a balance of talent as running back Joe McCourt combines his 96.3 yards per game with quarterback Marko Glavic (172.7 passing yards) and wideout John Weyrauch (47.3 receiving yards).
