Washington, DC ? Georgetown women?s field hockey lost to the Golden Rams of West Chester, 3-0, ending a two game win streak for the Hoyas and bringing their season record to 3-8. The Rams improved to 3-7.
The Hoyas held off the Rams until a penalty shot in the 18th minute by Azure Yoder put West Chester up by one. West Chester would score again five minutes later, when Jen McGinley knocked in a rebound.
The Hoya offense made an explosive effort in the second half, taking eleven shots, including seven by senior Captain Lauren Galbally (Malvern, Pa/ Villa Maria Academy), but were unable to penetrate the Rams defense. The Rams would score again in the last two minutes, with the goal going to Jenna Frankenfield.
Georgetown freshman goalie, Abby Winer (Rising Sun, Md/Rising Sun) had five saves on the day, while West Chester Goalie Carrie Hanshue had six.
The Hoyas will be back in action on Oct. 15, when they face Lehigh at 3:30 on Kehoe.
