The Skinny
Georgetown and Stony Brook will face off in GU?s 2003 homecoming game. It is the first time the two institutions have ever faced each other on the gridiron. The Hoyas are riding a one-game winning streak after defeating Lafayette last weekend. The Seawolves are currently on a two-game skid after losing at Robert Morris last week (23-20) and falling at home to Monmouth, 20-14.
It was a Hoya team effort last week as both the offense and the defense pitched a 7-0 fourth quarter. Tailback John Sims carried the brunt of the offensive load in the final 15, recording 63 yards. Lafayette?s high-powered offense was contained in the fourth based on the stingy play of linebacker William Skultety. Skultety had a six-yard sack on third and 10 with 2:51 to play and forced the Leopards into a long fourth down conversion attempt, which failed. The 10 points scored by Lafayette were the fewest allowed by a Georgetown team dating back to last season?s third game.
Stony Brook?s defense is led by linebacker Eddie Cobbinah. It is giving up only 282 yards of total offense and has recorded 18 sacks in four games. The offense focuses on the run as Seawolves average 153.0 yards on the ground and 204.2 through the air.
