McArdle Earns 2003 ECAC Division I-AA Football Honors

WASHINGTON, D.C. ? Georgetown senior football standout Luke McArdle (Boxford, Mass./ Masconomet Regional (Phillips Academy)) today was named to the ECAC Division I-AA Football All-Star squad. McArdle earned First Team status as a return specialist and was named to the Honorable Mention squad as a wide receiver.

At the end of the 2003 campaign McArdle earned Georgetown?s first ever Patriot League First Team honor after compiling the best single season for receiving yards in Hoya history, with 1,118. He ended the year as the nation?s leader in all-purpose yards per game, averaging 184.6. On the year McArdle hauled in 63 passes for a 17.7 per catch average and scored 13 touchdowns. He completed his senior year second in the Patriot League for receiving yards per game (101.6) and was fourth in receptions per game (5.75).

McArdle finished his Georgetown career at the top of the Hoya lists in all-purpose yards (4,629), punt return yards (951) and kickoff return yards (1,216). He tied for second all-time in receptions with 153, is third in receiving touchdowns with 22, is third in receiving yards (2,462), tied for fifth in average yards per reception (16.1) and tied for sixth in scoring (144).
